1: Benson, who last wooed Arena audiences in June 2006, has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, been awarded eight Grammys and recently received The MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award.
2: Throughout his career Benson has embraced everything from straight-ahead jazz to contemporary jazz and R&B/pop vocals.
3: He is one of a handful of artists who have achieved major critical and commercial success in different genres and his pedigree makes him one of the most respected performers of the past 30 years.
4: Benson retains the ability to spring surprises on his fans and critics, like his dazzlingly idiomatic TV appearance and subsequent record date with Benny Goodman in 1975 in honour of John Hammond, and his awesome command of the moment at several Playboy Jazz Festivals in the 1980s.
